General Motors plans to generate or source all electrical power for its 350 operations in 59 countries with 100% renewable energy—such as wind, sun and landfill gas—by 2050. The company expects to exceed this when two new wind projects come online later this year to help power four manufacturing operations.

And in the last two weeks, one of the largest utility companies in the United States, Pacific Gas & Electric, announced plans to work with General Motors in experiments with their bidirectional charging technologies. Even so, world events are putting wind in the sails for backup power. Not so independent.

Automakers agree on common plug to recharge electric vehicles by Darren Murph , posted Apr 19th 2009 at 4:24PM Just hours after General Motors put forth a proposal for a standardized plug for electric vehicles , in flies this. I imagine there will be tax incentives to build green generators when were at that stage.
