The Ugly Coal sucks, there's really no two ways about it. But not all use of coal is alike. The Good About half our electricity comes from coal, and that will change, at best, slowly as we move to renewables. That includes the worst, most coal dependent areas. We can make electricity many ways, some better than others.

Sorry, but electrics and electric power plants are so efficient that CO2 emissions are less than gassers even when the electricity comes from coal - and a lot of electricity doesnt come from coal. As more renewables come online, battery electrics just keep getting cleaner and greener. But where does Hydrogen come from?

While a series hybrid is good, the Toyota Prius gets 100 miles per gallon because after the 20 miles of pure EV mode, it kicks into a hybrid-electric car. If you charge up the Toyota Prius PHEV you would get 200 miles per gallon and 40 mile EV range; the same as the Volt. One of the engineers explained to me how the car works.

And we all won’t be driving a Prius either – I’ll have my electric pickup truck in a few years too. As a civilization, we have committed ourselves to electricity and we must make cleaner electricity. Aside from the support of large automakers, common sense dictates that electric transportation will prevail.
