Mitsubishi’s i-MIEV battery electric vehicle took the top spot from the Honda Civic Natural Gas on the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy’s (ACEEE) 14 th annual environmental ranking. The natural gas Civic had held first place for 8 years running. Toyota Prius. Honda Civic Hybrid. Nissan LEAF.

Consumer Reports fuel economy tests found the Honda Accord Hybrid delivered impressive overall fuel-economy of 40 mpg (5.88 l/100 km), tying the smaller Honda Civic Hybrid and falling below the top-performing and smaller Toyota Prius hatchback by only 4 mpg. liter gasoline V6.

What's most interesting, however, is how easy (and cheap) it is to do a carbon emission-free 200 mile day in a 100 mile range electric vehicle, my 5 year old Toyota RAV4 EV. In a Prius or Civic Hybrid at 50mpg, the trip would have cost about $30 in gas, tolls and parking in Sacto. We’ve seen this all before.
