BMW Brilliance Automotive presents prototype plug-in hybrid sedan based on 5 Series; targeted for China market in 2013

BMW Group and its Chinese joint venture partner Brilliance China Automotive Holdings Ltd. Series production of the automobile is to start in China in 2013. When running purely on electrical power, it is possible to travel for up to 75 kilometers (47 miles) at a constant speed of 60 km/h (37 mph).

BMW ActiveE available for leasing in US in Fall 2011

Beginning in 2011 in the US, Europe and China, a test fleet of more than 1,000 BMW ActiveE vehicles, produced at BMW’s Leipzig plant, will provide further insights into the everyday use of the vehicle. As a result, the BMW ActiveE accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in under nine seconds. Top speed is electronically limited at around 90 mph.
