AES Gener has ordered 20MW of A123’s advanced Li-ion energy storage solutions for a spinning reserve project in Northern Chile. The project expands the relationship between A123 and AES Energy Storage and is AES’ second in Chile to use A123 energy storage technology.

AES Gener and AES Energy Storage have begun commercial operation of the second energy storage project in Northern Chile, integrating 20MW of Li-ion battery-based energy storage (BESS) with a 544MW thermal power plant. As a result, this newly available energy will increase power generation from the Angamos plant by 4%.
