In Chicago, the observed, on-road taxi fleet also had significantly higher emissions and an emissions share that was more than double their fleet representation.

Furthermore, changing the battery pack on say a Toyota Prius often costs a fortune, at least in most European countries, so such cars better be VERY cheap, but they’re not. Many of the first Prius hybrids that were released are still running strong on their NiMH batteries after 100,000+ miles. — Jeff U 6.

“The Toyota Prius took over five years to reach break-even and has gone on to be a wild success.&# Also maintenance on these (no oil changes to speak of) etc will cost much less than an internal combution propelled car. So the Volt would cost $32,500–not so much more than what people are reportedly paying for the Prius.
