The three-point, 400-volt plug, which will allow electric cars to be recharged anywhere in a matter of minutes , will be unveiled Monday at the world’s biggest industrial technology fair in Hanover, northern Germany. Electric car supporters are rising to defend General Motors’ development of the Chevy Volt after the Obama Administration’s automotive task force proclaimed that the car was probably too expensive to be commercially successful in the near future. is hoping to launch the Volt in late 2010 with a price tag of about $40,000. and Chrysler.

Now Lutz envisions selling hundreds of thousands of Volts a year, probably priced below $30,000. I want to stick around to see the Volt come to market.
