Statoil has extensive heavy oil experience from offshore fields in Norway and Brazil, which will enable it to develop the Mariner field. Statoil acquired 44.44% and operatorship for Mariner from Chevron in 2007. The average production is estimated at around 55,000 barrels of oil per day over the plateau period from 2017 to 2020.

With virtually every upstream company around the world slashing spending, it is the highest-cost and riskiest projects that are getting scrapped first.

April 10, 2009 10:09 am Link It amazes me that in the vast debate about electric cars world wide including here in Norway, no one ever mention the fact that the batteries in such cars need replacement in no more than five years. Chevron owns the NiMH patents and have not allowed EV size batts to be built.
