Once again, a conference on plug-in cars. Coming on the heels of the Google/Brookings event in Washington, D.C., I wish I knew what’s holding Gore back from full-throated support for plug-in cars. But neither car, GM execs made clear, will appear for sale on a showroom floor for more that two years.

Computer users badly needed a cheap, high-capacity, reliable, portable storage device. Flash memory became cheap and robust enough for consumer use by 1995. The thumb drive was all that—and more. Somewhat less credibly, inventors in Malaysia and China have also claimed to be the first to come up with the thumb drive.

What excites me is the idea of cheap and accessible hardware! Roboticist, Google Brain. Did he think they were applauding because finally the world will have a humanoid robot that can lift a pipe in a car factory? Hire some PhDs and go to some robotics conferences, Tesla: IROS 2022 is coming up in a few weeks!

In 2022, a schism in the chip design world and at Google erupted into the open. At issue was a reinforcement-learning AI system that Google uses to do a key step in laying out chunks of logic and memory for its AI accelerator chips, or TPUs. When a version was leaked ahead of a major conference, things got ugly.

Green Car Congress attended the Renewable Energy Finance Forum - Wall Street (REFF-Wall Street) conference (23-24 June) sponsored by Euromoney Energy Events and the American Council on Renewable Energy (ACORE). Although not part of the conferences formal structure, the themes were addressed in the presentations and panel discussions.
