Sure, it’d be a gamble fraught with charging uncertainty. But Europe’s embraced EVs faster and more enthusiastically than we Aussies, so surely the charging infrastructure is more commonplace, reliable, cheaper and efficient? A stuck charging cable. Kia asks $66,590 plus on-roads for the entry-level Niro S EV (about $70,600 drive-away), while our test Niro GT-Line EV is $72,360 plus charges, or some $76,500 drive away.

We’re not holding our breath for that mythical $30,000 Chevrolet Equinox EV, but we figured retail versions of Chevy’s Silverado EV pickup truck and Blazer EV SUV would have reached the market by now. Now we’ve driven both.
