BMW has launched “BMW i Genius”—a software system employing artificial intelligence technology to interact with potential customers of the BMW i3 EV or i8 PHEV in a live question and answer format that works on a mobile platform in the UK.

Across the country, several regions stood out with London (9,274) and Eastern England (8,685) registering the most electric vehicles (EVs), a rise of 42% and 21% respectively on 2016. The second half of 2017 recorded in excess of 24,000 registrations of 100% electric and plug-in hybrid cars—up more than 40% on July-December 2016.

Car-sharing operator Zipcar and the Westminster City Council in London have launched a new car sharing club fleet that will initially include 20 hybrid vehicles and will offer members access to the country’s first all-electric car club vehicle, a Citroen c1. Other vehicles include a VW Caddy Maxi van and a Toyota Verso people carrier.

The BMW Group is introducing its innovative eDrive Zones in another 20 European cities, including Copenhagen, Verona and Toulouse. A total of 138 cities in Europe are now benefiting from this technology; BMW expects to roll out the service in at least another 30 cities worldwide in the coming year. Pölten, Toulouse and Verona.
