Zipcar offers more than 60 different makes and models of vehicles, including Audis, BMWs, Mini Coopers, pickup trucks, Prius hybrids and more. The company rebranded as Share Now in fall 2019 as BMW’s Reach Now was shut down and folded in with Car2go. Getaround Getaround is free to join, similar in concept to Turo.

A new study released by BMW i and New York University (NYU) finds that, in the coming years and decades, fundamental changes in the demographic makeup of cities will profoundly alter the way people travel. The NYU-BMW i study also reports that demand for parking is going to intensify in major cities.

Another strikingly different concept evidenced by the PHEV is that it is essentially a large, portable battery that can store energy gathered during one part of the day, and then use it later to power not only itself but also the vehicle owner’s home. The convenience and low cost of this concept alone merit attention.

The vans themselves are based on the concept Town and Country EV that was unveiled last Fall by Chrysler. However, because of the duty cycle used by the Postal Service, which generally amounts to only about 18-20 miles per day on a fixed route, these vehicles are being built without the range extender seen on the concept. Looks sharp.
