The Chevrolet Volt’s all-new second-generation Voltec extended-range electric propulsion system ( earlier post ) delivers 53 miles (85 km) of all-electric range, based on EPA testing. Chevrolet expects many next-generation Volt owners will use power solely from their batteries for more than 90% of trips.

Chevrolet went out on a limb back in 2010 when it introduced the 2011 Chevy Volt extended-range electric vehicle. Now it’s taking a much riskier step by showing off the upcoming battery-powered Bolt—a pure electric car with a promised 200-mile range.

The 2016 Chevrolet Malibu Hybrid ( earlier post ) is EPA-rated at 46 mpg (5.11 engine in the MY 16 Chevrolet Volt EREV ( earlier post ) but is operated differently in the HEV.
