The Hertz Corporation, which includes the Hertz, Dollar and Thrifty brands, has expanded of its Green Traveler Collection car rental fleet to include the 2016 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid ( earlier post ) in select cities across the US. All of the Green Traveler cars have fuel efficiency ratings starting at 33+ highway mpg.

Look for a full Road Test review soon on Clean Fleet Report. Toyota has rated the 2023 Prius hybrid at between 50 and 57 miles per gallon (mpg), with the higher range for the FWD models. In our short time driving the Prius AWD, the fuel economy dash meter was reading 54 mpg. Not the traditional Prius silhouette. Room for three.

My lifetime tally is 231 mpg, which means I’ve used less than 80 gallons of gas over the car’s 42 months on the road. In fact, it might not even be possible for the auto industry to produce that many EVs, although the rate of expansion is dizzying.
