They’ve seen Super Bowl ads for the GMC Hummer EV , or heard news about the lengthy, painful Chevrolet Bolt EV battery recall. BrightDrop offers a fascinating window into the breadth of GM’s EV plans, though even many people in the auto industry know little about it. The company has committed $800 million to that conversion.

In March of 2020, I and an estimated 75-100 auto/EV journalists and influencers got to see (but not photograph) 10 of GM’s future EVs. In GM teaser videos we saw hints of future electric GMC and Chevrolet pickups and what clearly looks like a Camaro. Hence the focus on high-end models such as the GMC Hummer and Cadillac LYRIQ.
