A Concept ActiveE is in the background. The BMW Group will launch its Megacity Vehicle in 2013, said Norbert Reithofer, Chairman of the Board of Management of BMW AG, on Thursday ahead of the Auto China 2010 show in Beijing. During the test phase some 50 MINI E cars are also being delivered to customers in China in 2010.

We've known since last July that an all-electric Mini Cooper will go into production in 2019. Now, we can see the first renderings of the car that will make its official debut at the Frankfurt auto show in two weeks.

A little more than a year ago, the all-electric Mini E stole the limelight at the 2008 Los Angeles Auto Show. Now, BMW has released details of its next all-electric concept car, which will formally debut at next month's Detroit Auto Show.

BMW will use media days at the Los Angeles auto show, which begin on November 29, to unveil a new electric car that's never before been seen. The electric model that will debut in California wasn't otherwise specified in the German maker's announcement, which called it simply "a world premiere vehicle."

BMW has now produced two electric cars: the two-seat Mini E, of which 600 examples are on test in the U.S., and the new ActiveE Concept unveiled at last month's Detroit Auto Show, which will be similarly tested starting next year. Europe, and U.K., But these are just preludes.

2009 BMW Concept ActiveE. BMW MegaCity Urban Electric Car To Be Built of Carbon Fiber. After which the car itself is then built at a third German plant, in Leipzig. It has, however, previously used carbon fiber in race cars as well as body and interior panels for its M Series of performance models. April 7th, 2010.

The ultimate goal is the concept of a Megacity Vehicle (MCV) that meets the demands of a sustainable mobility solution for congested urban areas. The feedback from customers testing the MINI E and the BMW ActiveE will be fed directly into series production of the MCV, which the BMW Group will be launching under a new sub-brand in 2013.
