No less an auto industry titan as Ford has also made bidirectional charging a selling point of their F-150 Lightning electric truck, reportedly slated to roll off the lines this year. In case of power outage at home, the DC pins in the charger can send juice back into the house, keeping the lights on.

General Motors’ Impact debuted at the 1990 Los Angeles Auto Show. In the 1990s, batteries had far less capacity than they do today, and for the small community of EV users, the prospect of running out of juice and becoming stranded was very real. And the auto industry had just canceled the battery EV.

" President Obamas auto task force doesnt see it that way. A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. why would the auto company be in cahoots with the oil companies on this topic? guess who GM sold the NIHM auto-battery patents too. in their short sited vision.
