Today we could be using lead-acid EVs, lead-carbon-acid EVs, or nickel metal hydride or lithium-ion hybrids. The electricity for recharging has to come from somewhere, which means power plants.

The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. It also offers eight hybrid models. Volt like hybrids are the intermediate future between hydrogen or fast charging electric cars. Thats short-sighted.
