California-based EV startup Fisker signed a new dealer in Miami and several in Europe as it fights to turn things around. After announcing massive price cuts on its Ocean electric SUV last month, Fisker looks to grow its dealer network. The 2023 Ocean Extreme price was cut from $61,499 to just $37,499.

Production of the Ocean started in November 2022 at Magna’s facility in Austria , but deliveries have trickled out due to a number of issues. Fisker has in the meantime begun pivoting to a dealer-based sales model , to supplement direct-sales efforts depending on the market.

The production pause at contractor Magna’s Graz, Austria, factory is intended to give Fisker time to sell some of these vehicles. The company, which has pointed to supplier issues as the reasons for the Ocean’s slow rollout, gave that model’s top trim level a $7,500 price cut in October 2023.

While the base recommended price of the ID.3 3 series model with the smallest battery version starts at below €30,000 in Germany (target price), the exclusive ID.3 3 1 ST models with the Volkswagen dealer they prefer. 3 will be Norway, Germany, the Netherlands, France, the UK and Austria.

Fisker previously relayed that over 250 dealer partners in North America have expressed interest, but only 13 have actually signed agreements. The Ocean is currently being built in Austria by contract manufacturer Magna Steyr. In addition, Fisker intends to reduce its workforce by approximately 15%.

Not to mention a limited range of around 286 miles for a vehicle with a hefty price tag starting at $73,775 in the US. The I-Pace, built under contract in Austria by Magna Steyr, will end production last, most likely sometime early next year. Rather, US buyers can access the next-gen vehicles via dealers.
