Audi is partnering with the Zurich-based environmental start-up and promoting a future technology with the project. Climeworks is removing 1,000 metric tons thereof from the atmosphere on behalf of Audi. The water returns to the cycle of the geothermal power plant. One quarter of that will be credited to Audi.

As part of a pilot project, Audi is procuring 20-inch wheels for the Audi e-tron GT electric car that are made from low-CO 2 emission aluminum supplied by Alcoa to RONAL GROUP, the wheel’s manufacturer. Audi has introduced the e-tron GT four-door electric coupé, which is coming to the market as an RS model at the same time. The 2022 Audi e-tron GT and RS e-tron GT are expected to go on sale in the US this summer; the Audi RS e-tron GT will be the first EV from Audi Sport sold in the US. kWh/100 km (NEDC).

With respect to the emissions updates, the OEMs must also provide proof that the changes do not negatively impact any other parameters relevant for type approval—such as pollutant and CO 2 emissions, fuel consumption, noise and engine power.
