The Grand Cherokee 4xe does not have the ability to DC fast charge. If you have no battery charge, the gasoline engine kicks in, resulting in the lower fuel economy number, but a bit of battery charge is reserved for extra boost when accelerating hard. Using a Level 2 charger it will take 2.5 hours to fully recharge the battery.
