I have to admit, I was a bit surprised when GM announced that it would start its new Ultium battery-powered electric vehicle push with the GMC Hummer EV. As per the EPA documents , the Hummer EV Edition 1 is equipped with an Ultium battery pack that has a usable capacity of 212.7 It just felt a bit strange.

General Motors has increased its electric vehicle investment by 75%, from $20 billion to $35 billion through 2025, the company announced on Wednesday. The plan is to eventually transition its entire fleet of vehicles to be fully electric, but the company doesn’t plan to accomplish this until 2035.

This new company, Bright Automotive , is founded by ex-GM EV1 people, and the super efficient Rocky Mountain Institute to make plug-in hybrids in Indiana. It’ll be interesting to see how their vehicles compare to all the rest in terms of efficiency. At the end of this article, Prof. I’m still not convinced.
