Green hydrogen is produced by the electrolysis of water, powered by renewable energy. Established in September 1995, NGVC was the first company in Africa and the Middle East to commercialize natural gas as an alternative fuel for vehicles. Hydrogen is one of bp’s five energy transition growth engines.

The well was drilled using the sixth-generation semi-submersible rig Maersk Discoverer in water depth of 649 meters (2,129 feet) and reaching a total depth of around 7,000 meters (22,966 feet). It is the first well in the North Damietta Offshore concession granted in February 2010 and operated by BP.

Researchers from the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), South Africa and Rutgers University are proposing new Fischer-Tropsch (F-T) reaction chemistry and process designs that they say could increase F-T process efficiency and reduce CO 2 emissions by 15% compared to the conventional process. Oil sands comprise clay, sand, water, and bitumen. Dilbit is also processed to remove sand, water, and other impurities. Even if improved fuel efficiency and broader adoption of alternative fuels reduced overall demand for oil, demand for Canadian heavy crude oil at Gulf Coast refineries would not be substantially affected.

Tata Motors showcased its alternate fuel technology capability at the New Delhi Auto Expo 2012 by displaying four concepts: the Tata Nano CNG; the Tata Indigo Manza diesel-electric hybrid; the Tata Starbus Fuel Cell (hydrogen); and the Tata Magic Iris CNG. It comes equipped with a 611 cc, water-cooled 12.8 Magic IRIS CNG.
