While the Model Y dropped back from the incredible high of 5560 sales and second outright in June , it was still only beaten in the sales race by the Ford Ranger and Toyota HiLux utes and the cheap and cheerful MG ZS SUV. That tally will spiral when the BYD Dolphin arrives. It also sits eighth for the year with 29,511 sales.

Blue Chicken, Indonesia’s biggest taxi operator, is ready to buy maximum of its unused fleet as electrical cars (EVs) from BYD, in line with a document by means of Bloomberg. The exit comes as Blue Chicken objectives to faucet into the rising approval for cheap EVs within the Indonesian marketplace.

HEVs and mild-hybrids are offered by manufacturers as a quick and relatively cheap way (especially in the case of mild hybrids) to improve fleet emissions, compared to ICE-only vehicles. Outside the top 20, BYD made its first measurable deliveries of the Atto 3 (approximately 34 units). BMW, however, slid from 3rd in Q4, to 6th in Q1.

At $59,990 in a single well-equipped trim level — the e-2008 GT — it’s cheap compared to fellow Euro models like the BMW iX1 xDrive30 ($87k) or the Mercedes-Benz EQA ($78k). But it looks like less of a bargain when you pit it against the Tesla Model 3 RWD ($61,900), MG ZS EV Long Range ($55,990), or BYD Atto 3 ($48,011).
