Honda to build new plant in Mexico for production of subcompact vehicles, starting in 2014

HDM), Honda’s production and sales company in Mexico, will build an automobile plant for production of fuel-efficient subcompact vehicles for the Mexican and North American markets. The smallest automobile currently produced by Honda in North America is the compact Honda Civic, which is built at Honda plants in Indiana and Ontario, Canada.

Honda Begins Production of Civic GX Natural Gas Vehicles at Indiana Plant

It has an average range of more than 220 miles, and has fuel economy of 24 mpg (city) and 36 mpg (highway). As in all new 2009 model Honda and Acura automobiles, the engine meets or exceeds US EPA Tier 2 Bin 5 emissions standards. It is powered by a 113-hp (84 kW), 1.8-liter, 1—to maximize performance from natural gas fuel.
