The trains, which will convey travellers between Cuxhaven, Bremerhaven, Bremervörde and Buxtehude from December 2021, will replace the diesel multiple units of the transport authority Elbe-Weser-Verkehrsbetriebe (evb) and will reduce the pollutant emission in daily service to zero. The companies also signed a 30-year maintenance agreement.

The first hand-off to a customer was in 2018. In addition, all European Daimler Trucks & Buses plants will be CO 2 -neutral by the year 2022. All other plants will follow.

The aim is a 30% reduction in NO x emissions from these vehicles by the end of 2018. With respect to the emissions updates, the OEMs must also provide proof that the changes do not negatively impact any other parameters relevant for type approval—such as pollutant and CO 2 emissions, fuel consumption, noise and engine power.
