Bedford currently produces transmission casings, converter housings and small gasoline engine blocks. An additional $48.4-million million investment is planned for the Bedford, Ind.

Cooperation between Daimler and Renault-Nissan Alliance deepening in 2016

Nissan and Daimler broke ground on the US$1-billion Aguascalientes, Mexico, plant in 2015, which will produce next-generation premium compact vehicles for Infiniti as of 2017 and for Mercedes-Benz starting in 2018. Construction will be completed in 2017, followed by preparation for pilot production of Infiniti vehicles.

DOE to award up to $13M to four advanced biofuels projects

The US Department of Energy (DOE) has selected four research and development projects designed to bring next-generation biofuels on line faster and to drive down the cost of producing gasoline, diesel, and jet fuels from biomass. The projects represent up to a combined $13-million Energy Department investment.

Renault-Nissan Alliance and Daimler partnership solid and expanding; 12 projects on three continents

Production will begin in 2017 with Infiniti models. Renault is also supplying a 1-liter, 3-cylinder naturally aspirated gasoline engine and a 900cc turbocharged, 3-cylinder gasoline unit for the smart forfour and smart fortwo. The production of Mercedes-Benz vehicles will follow in 2018.

DOE BETO awards $10M to 7 advanced biofuels projects

The Bioenergy Technologies Office is working to produce cost-competitive ($3/gallon of gasoline equivalent) advanced biofuels from non-food biomass resources that reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 50% or more versus petroleum-based alternatives.
