The Advanced Clean Trucks (ACT) rule requires the sale of at least 30% zero-emission trucks by 2030; the HDV Omnibus rule requires a 90% reduction in NO x emissions from Model Year 2027 engines; and the California Phase 2 greenhouse gas rule sets standards to improve the efficiency of tractor-trailers.

XLP ship-thru deliveries to fleet customers will begin in the fourth quarter of 2017, said Clay Siegert, XL Hybrids’ co-founder and chief operating officer. SDG&E, as one example, signed a memorandum of understanding to purchase up to 110 of the plug-in electric hybrid truck systems between 2017 and 2020 to upgrade SDG&E’s fleet vehicles.
