In two packages of awards, the California Energy Commission approved more than $44 million to expand the hydrogen fueling infrastructure and increase the number of alter alternative fuel vehicles on the road in the state. Fueling infrastructure must be in place to support the successful introduction of these vehicles.

Drivers of gasoline- and diesel-powered cars and trucks pay a fuel tax when filling up a a gas station/convenience store and then the gas station owners send payment to the tax authorities in their state.

But the landscape has changed since 2017 as the 2021 Toyota Sienna minivan is now a hybrid. The horizontal LED tail lights, are connected by a light strip that runs the full width of the rear.
