Mayor of London floats action plan to reduce city’s air pollution

The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has outlined plans to crackdown on the most polluting vehicles, including an additional £10 (US$13) per day charge for the most polluting vehicles and an extended Ultra-Low Emission Zone. The public has until 29 July 2016 to provide feed back on the first round of the Clean Air Plan consultation.

Euro 6 for diesel cars and vans (widely available since 2016). Euro 3 for motorcycles and mopeds (widely available since 2007). The ULEZ has already helped to reduce roadside pollution levels by 44% in central London and 20% in inner London. The ULEZ is a very targeted scheme to get the most polluting vehicles off the road.

Disneyland will remake its Autopia around EVs in 2026

European Parliament, Council provisionally agree on new safety, emissions rules for L-category vehicles in EU

As L-category vehicles emit disproportionally high levels of pollutants, MEPs successfully proposed to bring them down by extending the Euro 3 standards to mopeds from 1 January 2016. For heavy motorcycles, the more stringent Euro 4 standards would apply from 2016 and Euro 5 limits from 2020.
