BASF and Gazprom agree on asset swap; BASF’s Wintershall expanding production of oil and gas, exiting gas trading and storage business

BASF and Russia’s Gazprom signed a legally binding basic agreement to swap assets of equivalent value. In October, Wintershall also substantially expanded its production and reserves of oil and gas in the North Sea through an asset swap with Statoil. This is equivalent to a total of 2.4 billion barrel of oil equivalent.

Study finds between 87 to 98% of ships following the new sulfur regulations in northern Europe

Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology have shown that between 87 and 98 percent of ships comply with the tougher regulations for sulfur emissions that were introduced in northern Europe in 2015. Such inspections are a prerequisite for taking legal action against rule breakers. —Johan Mellqvist.
