The purpose of the 21CTP is to reduce fuel consumption and emissions; increase heavy-duty vehicle safety; and support research, development, and demonstration to initiate commercially viable products and systems. These projects will receive $115 million in DOE funding to develop and demonstrate full vehicle system-level technologies by 2015.
