This may well be the case with the EV ARC, a solar-powered off-grid charging station made by Beam Global.

Given its range, and the rapidly growing free Supercharger network, the Tesla Model S works well for virtually everyone who can afford one. Plug-in vehicle sales are indeed increasing, with the LEAF and Volt each selling about 2500 units in June 2013. It’s also grid-friendly. They should be encouraged.

One of the things that EV owners know is that if you're going to take a trip, pull your phone and tell the car, 15 or 30 minutes before you start, hey, warm up your battery, pre-condition the cabin and do it on grid power so you have a full battery. But the difference is that only a minority of Americans today can afford to buy a new car.
