Bob Lutz, the outgoing vice chairman of GM, has said the company will produce about 8,000 Chevy Volts in 2011. The firm eTec got $100 million in funding from the US Department of Energy through the stimulus bill. Total cars initially available: 4,700. Other automakers are also proceeding cautiously.
