The calculated relative amounts of well-to-wheels emissions of greenhouse gases from eight different energy sources are shown in the table below. These results indicate that coal and oil are the energy sources leading to most emissions, and that hydro, wind, and nuclear are the energy sources leading to least emissions.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of grant funding to implement projects which reduce emissions from the nation’s existing fleet of older diesel engines. Since the first year of the DERA program in 2008, EPA has competitively awarded more than 850 grants and 450 rebates across the country.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is announcing the availability of grant funding to implement projects aimed at reducing emissions from the nation’s existing fleet of older diesel engines. EPA anticipates awarding approximately $44 million in Diesel Emission Reduction Program (DERA) grant funding to eligible applicants.

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the availability of $26 million in grant funding to establish clean diesel projects aimed at reducing emissions from the US’ existing fleet of diesel engines. Funds awarded under this program cannot be used to fund emission reductions mandated under federal law.

In 2008, UPS ordered an additional 200 hybrids with additional features and updates. The project began in early 2008 and will conclude later this year. Units 1 and 2 at the Pleasant Prairie Power Plant (P4) recently were retrofitted with selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems to control emissions of nitrous oxides (NO x ) and wet flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems to control sulfur dioxide (SO 2 ) emissions.
