Novolyte Technologies, a leading manufacturer and supplier of specialty electrolyte materials for lithium-ion battery and energy storage applications, high performance solvents and other specialty chemicals, has signed a definitive agreement with Foosung Co., Novolyte is contributing its energy storage business to the joint venture.

These are the first conditional loan commitments reached as part of the Department of Energy’s Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing program. The Obama Administration is awarding $8 billion in three conditional loan commitments for the development of innovative, advanced vehicle technologies: $5.9 and $465 million to Tesla Motors.

The teams first studied the ideas from October 2008 to April 2010. The program’s Subsonic Fixed Wing Project oversees the work at the agency’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland and Langley Research Center in Virginia. The work is funded by NASA’s Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate in Washington.
