(JCI) has filed a petition with the Delaware Court of Chancery to dissolve Johnson Controls-Saft Advanced Power Solutions LLC (JCS), the automotive Li-ion battery joint venture between Johnson Controls and Saft. The joint venture was formed in 2006 to develop and manufacture lithium-ion automotive battery solutions.

The lithium-ion battery comprises 168 prismatic cells and is liquid-cooled. The Q7 PHEV will arrive in dealerships in Germany in 2016, and will likely come to the US, although perhaps with a gasoline-engine variant. Its emphasis is on lithium-ion battery systems, which are put together using a flexible, modular concept.
