Lexus prices new three-row RX 450hL hybrid starting at $50,620

Lexus introduced the first luxury hybrid—the 2006 RX 400h—and now holds 40% of the US luxury hybrid market. A 37 kW nickel metal hydride (Ni-MH) hybrid battery provides the hybrid system energy storage. The RX 450hL is set to go on sale at dealers in April.

Toyota to Stay with NiMH for Mass-Market Hybrids

Toyota last month ended road tests of 126 Priuses in the US, Japan and Europe that began in 2006, company spokeswoman Jana Hartline said in an interview.
