Ever since the 1970’s, when he and his brother would take turns sitting in gas lines on Saturday mornings during a severe gas shortage, Earl Cox had been interested in the development of a vehicle that could run on something other than oil-based fuel. I kept asking GM people when the car was going into production.

Another of my favorite people on the Southern California environmental scene is State Senator Fran Pavley who also spoke at the press conference. From there she went on to author and spearhead AB 32 our Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006. That’s EE Solar’s RAV4 and it has gone over 116,000 miles oil free.

There are several types of CNG fast-fill dispensing nozzles (ANSI NGV1-2006), including a pistol grip dispenser reminiscent of a gasoline dispenser, and a barrel-type nozzle with a jaw lock engaged with a 180° rotation of its handle. A structural oil pan further stiffens the powertrain. A blue handle would indicate 3,000 psi.
