MEML was closed in 2004 due to a lack of demand. 2005 – 2015 : Period of a huge setback in the Industry due to various issues mainly poor government support and poor support system and infrastructure for EVs. The government is now focusing its efforts on heavily polluted cities to boost the use of electric vehicles.
