Average CO 2 emissions generated by new cars in Europe increased during 2017—the first rise in 10 years— according to a new analysis by JATO Dynamics. g/km in 2017, finishing at 118.1 g/km in 2017—far higher than the average CO 2 emissions of diesel and gasoline vehicles across all segments.

Interest in gasoline engined and hybrid vehicles has jumped in Germany while interest in diesel is falling, according to the latest biennial study on automotive buying trends in that country by leading German fuel retailer Aral. According to the new Trends report, 52% of buyers want a conventional gasoline engine.

Royal Mail has signed an agreement with Peugeot to purchase 100 Partner L2 Electric vans, to be used as delivery vehicles. The 2012-2013 plan update allocates $100 million to encourage investments in the following areas: $20 million to help develop and produce biofuels, including gasoline and diesel substitutes, and biomethane. Based on automaker surveys, the number of fuel-cell vehicles in California is projected to grow from about 350 in 2011 to 53,000 by 2017.
