The types of vehicles consumers select has by far the most dominant impact on on-road fuel economy—the best vehicle currently available for sale in the US is nine times more fuel efficient than the worst vehicle. mpg US (13.5 mpg in actual fuel economy (a reduction of 45%) as a result of disregarding all eco-driving practices.
