In 2001, a team of engineers at a then-obscure R&D company called AC Propulsion quietly began a groundbreaking experiment. They wanted to see whether an electric vehicle could feed electricity back to the grid. The company’s president, Tom Gage , dubbed the system “vehicle to grid” or V2G.

General Motors has released a white paper that evaluates the CO 2 reduction potential of extended-range electric vehicles (E-REVs) as well as plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), in combination with multiple vehicle charging scenarios, as compared to conventional hybrids. Scientist have confirmed that unlike gasoline cars, plug-ins will get cleaner as they get older -- because our power grid is getting cleaner. They reinforce the Pacific National Labs January 2007 findings that we wont have to build new power plants for cars that charge at night. The GREET 1.6 Thats 20-25 cents a gallon.

Such procedures will be used during exhaust emissions tests and fuel economy certification tests, and may be used for future “charge economy” certification tests. Instead, fuel usage and watt-hours per mile will be stated separately, with the baseline charging assumption being one energy storage charge per day for each vehicle being tested.

Energy Market Authority (EMA) was formed on 1 April 2001 as a statutory board under the Ministry of Trade and Industry to forge a secure, long-term electricity industry that thrives on healthy competition. The taskforce will set aside funding for interested parties to develop infrastructure and buy electric vehicle during the testing process.
