Audi to compete with hybrid drive at Le Mans for the first time; prototype to be presented at end of February

Audi will compete in the 80 th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans on 16-17 June 2012 with a total of four LMP1 sports cars. Two of the four cars in action will be equipped with hybrid drive for the first time. Audi racked up its first win for a TFSI engine in 2001 and for a diesel-powered car (the Audi R10 TDI) in 2006.

Paice files complaint against VW Group with ITC alleging hybrid patent infringement

Paice ( earlier post ), an early developer of hybrid vehicle technology, has filed a complaint against the Volkswagen Group with the US International Trade Commission (ITC). In December 2015, Paice reached an agreement to license all of its hybrid vehicle technology to Hyundai Motor Co.

The new Audi R18 e-tron quattro diesel hybrid ( earlier post ) will start the 80 th running of Le Mans from grid position one. Le Mans record winner Tom Kristensen in the number “2” Audi R18 e-tron quattro set the fourth-fastest lap (3m 25.433s) behind the quickest hybrid vehicle from Toyota.
