And EV owners would become entrepreneurs, selling electricity back to the grid. And indeed, that’s how promoters of vehicle-to-grid technology perceive the EV.

It’s no trouble to wash two or three cars at a time and not run out of juice, even at my notoriously leisurely pace. Extra batteries can be stacked for more endurance at work or turned into a power bank for home use when the grid goes dark.

Once weve consolidated everything to depend on the grid, we can clean up everything by cleaning up the grid. Once electric cars are more common, demand for electricity will rise, and electricity producers will have to look at big generators such as dams, nuclear stations or decentralised wind turbines that feed in to the grid.

A simple, clean, efficient EV that wont run out of juice because of its on-board gas generator. Notice in [link] that GM carefully avoids claiming to reduce CO2 by shifting to the grid, but leads people off the track by focusing on smog related issues. The intolerable act is to pretend that making cars into plug-ins will reduce CO2.
