I broke 2000 miles with the 914 EV this week. If I don't get elected co-chair next Thursday, I'm going to start an open-source EV conversion kit sub-group within the OEVA. The car has been running smoothly with no complaints. This presents the dilemma of running down the 12V battery while the main pack is charging.

Gadget runs an electric car conversion company called Left Coast Electric. The blaze took away some of Gadget’s most prized work, including a super sleek electric powered Silver Porsche which featured at PlugInAmerica’s Sept 08 gala fundraiser alongside the Tesla Roadster and GM’s Volt prototype.

My 914 was featured on page 38 along with John Benson's 914 DC conversion! Federal tax law doesn't let me get a rebate from the feds because the car isn't a fully qualified conversion; however, I applied to the State of Oregon to get the state rebate of $750. I hope Electro Auto doesn't get even more swamped by the publicity.

This is a bit of a dilemma because I only have a one-car garage and my current electric vehicle (the Porsche 914) is sitting in it, charging up. There are many Civics on Craigslist.com for $2000 or less that would meet my needs, so getting a car should be fairly easy. Since I'm still jet-lagged, I'll ponder this for a few days.

I called Rennsport Systems to ask for a transmission rebuilt quote and they suggested budgeting between $2000 and $3000 for parts and labor (Ouch!). Turning up the vent fan on full helps quite a bit, but having the hair dryers will definitely help. Alan at A &P quoted about $425 for labor plus parts (better).

The purple box in the center of the cycle is a Zilla2K (2000 amp DC controller). The KillaCycle ended up posting a run on Friday of 152mph in the quarter mile.
