In year two of the competition, teams incorporate their unique powertrains into the Saturn VUE.

California Air Resources Board studies show that battery electric vehicles emit at least 67% lower greenhouse gases than gasoline cars -- even more assuming renewables. The fuel engine on the Volt is used to run the generator to recharge the battery when a trip exceeds 40 miles, and it’s rage on a full tank is around 400 miles. The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. If our country is going to spend money like a drunk sailor we should have spent it on building renewable energy power plants like Wind and Geothermal.
