The four-door sedan will deliver 40 miles on a charge; a small gasoline engine will recharge the battery as it approaches depletion, extending its range by as much as 200 miles. The first of any new tech is expensive, but the prices improved dramatically as the tech becomes more advanced and easier to manufacture.
