unveiled the second generation Touareg and showcased the brand’s first hybrid at the 2010 New York International Auto Show. Volkswagen had earlier introduced the new Touareg in Germany in February. The electric motor can also recover kinetic energy during braking to help recharge the nickel metal-hydride battery pack.

As promised ( earlier post ), Hyundai unveiled the Sonata Hybrid at the New York International Auto Show. The company also introduced a new turbocharged version of the Sonata, the 2.0T. Sonata’s hybrid system stores its electrical charge in a 34 kW lithium polymer rechargeable battery (5.3Ah/270V) from LG Chem.
