With seating for five, the 2012 Prius Plug-in hybrid is expected to achieve a manufacturer-estimated 87 mpge (miles per gallon equivalent) in combined driving and 49 mpg in hybrid mode, or 2.7 VDC up to 650 volts DC. The on-board charging system accommodates single pulse DC 110/220 volt input, and is compliant to SAE J1772 standards.

For the standard version, Tesla plans to use a battery that can recharge at a typical 220V outlet in about four hours.
